Constant Force Balance System, Double Coil - Select Weight.
Used by several Companies - the design is supposed to offer an easier opening and closing of single and double hung windows.
Each 1/2 inch wide Coil spring has a number embossed on the side that determines the strength of the balancer.
They may have one or more coils and the coils may have different numbers on each coil when used in Doubles or Triples.
That\'s the weight range per pair, and you can mix and match them.
If you had a 15# sash you could use a 7 and a 1, a 5 and a 2 = 15 on each side, etc.
If the sash was 10#, you\'d want the stampings to add up to 10 on each side.
Each side should add up to the weight of the sash.
Each coil has a short or long tongue, The long tongues are the ones that are furthest away from the shoe.
Sizes: 5, 6, 7, 8 or 440/440, 440/540, 540/540, 540/640, 640/640, 640/740, 740/740, 840/840.
If you have a single digit a 5 = 540, 6 = 640, 7=740, 8=840
